What is CNC turning?

CNC turning is a subtractive type of CNC machining where a rough piece of metal is spun at high speed and a cutting instrument revolves around it to cut away the excess material until the desired shape is achieved. The turning process allows for the manufacturing of a wide array of cylindrical or spherical parts, with high accuracy and consistency. 

CNC turning uses the same principle as a common lathe, except the CNC machines are computer-controlled. CNC stands for Computer Numerical Control and refers to the manufacturing process of machined parts led by a computer program. 

The process of CNC turning is also capable of: drilling, boring, taper turning.
